The Essentials is a review of all eras of doctor who from beginning to present. A new post will go live every week and you can see them all here.

Wacko Says:

Until recently Peter Davidson was the youngest man to play the doctor and it was quite a coup to do so. Even now Matt Smith was younger by only 3 years.

While taking over for William Hartnell was arguably harder for Patrick Troughton, it was not an easy task to take over for the most famous and longest running actor either.

Again, purposely departing from the personality of the previous incarnation, the 5th doctor was much more eager to please and a lot more “sane” then his predecessor.

Always traveling with 2 or more companions, he was a lover of cricket and all things active. This version of the doctor shows the hints of the lonely, but energetic man he would become. The favorite incarnation of both the 10th Doctor and his actor David Tenant, he was the start of the new decade and a new direction for the entire series.

and look at him, he’s wearing a vegetable.
