After James had given me the demo for Metal Gear Rising I didn’t think I was going to like it.

The story seemed good and in-line with the rest of Metal Gear, but the game play was not at all for me.

I disliked the parry system in the demo so much I ended up canceling my preorder.

I hand’t given up on it entirely though, just waited for gamefly to send a copy to me to try the final version.

Like I said, I disliked the parry mechanic and was happy to see there was a easy mode that disabled it completely in the final release.

With that out of the way, the game was pretty good. I enjoyed the Codec calls and found the devil may cry style gameplay to be… decent.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a great game for that kinda thing, but since I don’t digg on DMC or Bayonetta I didn’t digg this.

As far as I know most Metal Gear fans don’t play this genre of game so it is a little odd to make one like this.

Still, up until the off the rails Japanese style final boss, the hack and slash gameply was fun and not too over the top.

It’s worth playing if you’re a fan of the franchise.

Knowing this game is in cannon and at least partially written by Hideo Kojima sucks for any snakes that may come along in sequels because they are going to be up to there stealth cammo in freaking cyborgs!
