Another game I picked up with the Steam was Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded.

Larry was one of my favorite games in the late 80’s, I played it a dozen times at least back in the day.

I replayed the original just last year and it still holds up. The first time I played was pre-internet, and I had to figure out all the puzzles myself. Because of this I remember most of them even now.

I enjoyed playing this new HD version but some of the changes chaffed my nostalgia just a bit.

For example, the original Lefty’s was a total dive.

But now it’s kinda a swinging place where even the formally sad people seem to be enjoying themselves.

But there were other places where I did enjoy the changes, like Caesar’s Phallus was improved and much more diverse.

The added girl to fail with was a nice addition too, it feels like she could have been there in the original if I could just find that key.

The final part of the game was improved visually, but again, I enjoyed the fun of the original a little more because it seems edited here.

In the end, I’m glad I got Reloaded, but I don’t think it was as good as Land of the Lounge Lizards. The juvenile jokes were great for a 10 year old boy, but seeing them fully animated or voiced made it more crass then I would like.

If you’re interested, I say play the original, but still send some cash Al Lowe’s way, he’s earned it.
